Many health challenges need attention, which has been exacerbated by the 2010 earthquake and the high levels of malnutrition in much of the population.
In addition to providing Haitian people access to clean water, many health-related challenges need to deal with. Problems in relation to access to health care have been exacerbated by the 2010 earthquake, due to infrastructure being destroyed.
Underlying issues relating to a high level of the population suffering from malnutrition due to poverty make the problems even more challenging.
Haiti also has one of the highest rates of maternal and infant deaths in the world. Approximately one in 80 women will die due to pregnancy and or childbirth. Besides, the infant mortality rate is 59 per 1,000 live births.
